Niloufer Hospital Pediatric Intensive Care  Unit (PICU)

This is a state-of-the-art pediatric population catering to the people of Andhra Pradesh and neighboring states. The PICU of Niloufer Hospital is situated in new block, constructed with financial assistance of INFOSYS. It has a bed strength of 12 and has three ventilators for advanced life support. Each bed is equipped with multichannel monitors and infusion pumps with 24hrs facilities for central and intensive care center for and tertiary care referral center emergency of the twin cities oxygen delivery and continuous suction.

The PICU is headed by an Associate Professor, Assistant Professor and trained post graduates with excellent nursing care round the clock. The nursing staff are well trained for emergency care. The PICU caters for 70 to 80 critically il1 children every month. This unit is serving many sick and poor children whose parents cannot afford the exorbitant cost of critical care elsewhere, and also provides scope for post graduates to train them selves in intensive care.

Niloufer Hosital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Level - III

This is an intensive care center for tiny and sick new born babies born in and outside the hospital.

This is situated in intensive care ward donated by D r. Govind Rao in memory of his daughter Late. Neena Rao.

Because of the initiative and constant encouragement of Superintendent, Dr. Sudarshan Reddy, the unit was started in September 2009 with 6 beds. There are 5 ventilators for advanced life support. Each bed is equipped with radiant warmer, multichannel monitor, infusion pump, phototherapy unit with 24hrs. facilities for central oxygen and continous suction. There is round the clock facility for routine investigations.

The NICU LEVEL - III caters to sick babies like babies weighing less than one kilogram, babies with respiratory distress, severe birth asphyxia neonatal shock, septicemia, multiorgan failure, persistent seizures, persistent hypoglycemia etc. This unit is serving many sick babies, whose of parents would not have afforded the high cost of treatment in corporate hospitals.

The NICU LEVEL – III is headed by an associate professor and postgraduate with excellent nursing care round the clock. There is good opportunity for the postgraduates to learn and treat sick babies with advanced care.
